歌が好きで歌うのも好き。英語の歌にも、いくつか歌えるものがある。アンディ・ウィリアムス、カーペンターズなどがお気に入り。
あるブログで、こうしたいわゆる洋楽の歌詞について書いていて、最近の記事でデスペラードという曲を取り上げていた。
イーグルスというグループの曲だということで、イーグルスに関しては何も知らなかったが、この曲に関しては聞き覚えがあった。
というのも、この曲をカーペンターズがカバーしていて、アルバムのひとつに収録しているからだ。
そのブログで、デスペラードの歌詞の翻訳、つまり訳詞を試みていた。
この訳詞と言うやつ、なかなかの曲者で、半端な英語力では手を出さないほうがいいのだ。
自分の好きな曲を少しでもよく知りたいと思いからか、それとも歌うときに気持ちをこめて歌いたいという思いからなのか、「Desperado、歌詞」で検索すると、この曲の歌詞を訳しているブログがいくつも出てくる。
しかし、その訳を読んでも、何のことかさっぱり分からないものばかり。
それらの訳をちょっと見てみることにする。その前に英語の歌詞を以下に引用する。
